If you've been on Amazon.co.uk recently then you will probably have heard about the new 3rd generation Kindle readers that are available for preorder.

At £109 and £149 for the two models we would imagine them being really quite popular here in the UK.

For £109 you get WiFi connectablility, the ability to carry around 3500 books with you, an improved screen with 50% better contrast and a battery which they claim will last a month with one charge! The £149 model has all these features as well as 3G technology, which you will be familiar with from modern mobile phone handsets. The benefit of this is you can purchase and download books on the move without having to be connected to a wireless internet connection.

I personally use the Kindle application on my Android handset, and I love it. Being able to read a selection of my favourite books on the move without needing a librarians trolley is great, a joy similar to owning my first mp3 player. means that I shall be placing a Kindle on my Amazon Wish List. Cue the less than subtle hints about my upcoming birthday..
